As an urban feminist geographer with a research interest in African cities, I was initially pleased when the web series, An African City, debuted in 2014. The series was released on YouTube and also available online at www. anafricancity.tv. Within the first few weeks of its release, An African City had over one million views. Created by Nicole Amarteifio, a Ghanaian who grew up in London and the United States, An African City is offered as the African answer to Sex and the City, and as a counter-narrative to popular depictions of African women as poor, unfashionable, unsuccessful and uneducated. Д†ana - Blam, Blam - (audio 2007) Apr 2026

"Blam, blam" features the high-energy, rhythmic production typical of Jana's peak era. It relies on a heavy synth-driven beat paired with traditional Balkan folk motifs, designed specifically for the club and "kafana" scene.

The track by the popular Serbian folk/turbo-folk singer Jana (often credited as Jana Todorović ) is a standout single from her 2007 album, Kući, kući . Released under the VIP Production label, the song remains a quintessential example of the mid-2000s Balkan pop-folk sound. Track Overview Artist: Jana Album: Kući, kući (2007) Genre: Turbo-folk / Pop-folk Label: VIP Production Musical & Production Review

While the album Kući, kući received mixed critical ratings on niche platforms like Rate Your Music (approx. 2.5/5), "Blam, blam" was a commercial success in the former Yugoslavia. It solidified Jana's reputation for delivering high-tempo hits that are still frequently played at celebrations and Balkan themed events today.
