Biting lice , also known as (Order Phthiraptera , suborder Mallophaga ), are wingless parasitic insects that primarily affect birds and mammals. Unlike sucking lice, which feed on blood, biting lice have broad heads with mouthparts designed to scrape and chew on skin fragments, hair, feathers, and skin secretions.
