For decades, soda was universally eligible for purchase with food stamps (SNAP) across the United States. However, starting in 2026, are significantly changing this rule . The General Rule starting in 2026

If your state has a ban, you can still use your SNAP benefits to buy soda in a neighboring state that does not have restrictions.
