Drag and drop a URL onto the Downie window, Dock icon, or menu bar icon to start a download.
Enable the Downie extension in Safari ( Safari > Preferences… > Extensions ) to directly send links to the app. Downie 4.6.9
If a URL is in your clipboard, press Cmd-V while the window is active, or click the clipboard icon to load it.
