Mizmar music is deeply celebratory and is a staple at weddings ( Zaffes ), festivals, and village gatherings across Egypt. It typically leads an ensemble consisting of two or three mizmar players accompanied by heavy percussion, such as the tabl baladi (a large double-sided bass drum).
