For three seconds, the "g36" sensor captured what lay inside the mountain: not rock or tectonic plates, but a vast, bronze-colored ribcage made of a metal that doesn't exist on Earth.

"It’s not seismic," a voice whispered on the recording. "It’s a broadcast."
