In May 2023, a massive search effort was launched for 13-year-old Garrett Warren and his 11-year-old friend, Alfa Barrie, after they went missing in Harlem.
Investigations revealed his ex-wife, Claudia Haro (the former wife of actor Joe Pesci), had hired the hitman. Haro was eventually sentenced to 12 years and four months in prison for the plot.
On May 20, 2000, Warren was shot four times at point-blank range—including in his right eye—by a hitman at his home in Westlake Village. He miraculously survived the attack but lost his right eye.
