Desperate to kill Maximus and prove his own strength, Commodus challenges him to a duel in the arena. To ensure his victory, Commodus secretly stabs Maximus in the side before the fight begins, hiding the wound under his armor. Despite his fatal injury, Maximus manages to disarm and kill Commodus in the dirt of the Colosseum.
