The episode follows (Bud Cort), a disgruntled school teacher and practicing warlock. Confident that he has used his dark arts to summon the winning lottery numbers— 666,666 —he calls the headmaster of his school to quit his job with a series of aggressive insults.
To his horror, the winning number is revealed to be . Abe tracks down the winner, a ditzy-seeming hairdresser named Anne MacColl (Carol Kane), intending to steal the ticket. However, he soon discovers that Anne is a powerful witch who also used magic to influence the lottery, leading to a "wicked battle of wits" between the two occultists.
