Sabata was done with the gunfighter life. He bought a modest ranch in Texas from a man named Jim Sparrow, wanting nothing more than to raise cattle and live in peace. But the land was arid, and Sparrow was a man consumed by greed.

As Sparrow lay dying in the dust, the local sheriff—who had been secretly following the trail of bodies and finally witnessed Sparrow's true nature—stepped out from the shadows. Sparrow's hand twitched. He went for his gun with blinding speed, but Sabata was faster. Sabata's revolver barked twice. The first bullet shattered Sparrow's wrist; the second pierced his chest.
Sabata managed to track the bounty hunter to an abandoned, sun-bleached mission. Sparrow stood in the center of the courtyard, laughing maniacally at the perfect web of death he had spun.
